OUR VIBRANT METHODOLOGY TO EMBRACING HEARING LOSS

VAdams Coaching helps people embrace hearing loss and live a vibrant life. Our method helped me make meaningful changes and find true happiness.

Breaking Through Silence

I was trapped in denial, finding solace in isolation. Then, one day, I couldn't hear. Lost and disoriented, I had no idea where to turn or how to navigate life with hearing loss.
But two pivotal moments changed everything. First, I took the leap and acquired a hearing aid. Second, encountering a fellow black woman living with hearing loss shattered my isolation and bolstered my acceptance. Representation made all the difference.

Embracing a New World of Support and Empowerment

When I first became involved in a local support group for African Americans with hearing loss, I could never have imagined the profound impact it would have on my life. The desire to understand and educate myself about this hidden condition quickly became my top priority. As I delved deeper into this journey, I began to notice a remarkable transformation within myself.

Engaging with a community of individuals facing similar challenges and experiences provided me with a sense of confidence and empowerment that I had never felt before. This newfound assurance led me to actively participate in various events and activities centered around hearing loss, broadening my horizons in ways I had never anticipated.

Surrounded by individuals who shared similar struggles, I found myself exposed to an entirely new world of understanding and support. However, amidst the camaraderie, I often encountered a recurring sentiment of despair and resignation. It was then that I had a moment of realization – my life had taken a turn for the better not simply through education, but through my determination to advocate for myself.
Reflecting further, I recognized that the pivotal moment came when I embraced the use of resources and tools such as hearing aids and closed captions. These invaluable aids not only enhanced my understanding and communication, but also played a crucial role in reshaping my outlook and fostering genuine happiness once again.

In retrospect, my journey with hearing loss has been a remarkable evolution, marked by education, self-advocacy, and the embracing of supportive tools. This newfound perspective has not only ignited a positive shift in my life, but has also instilled a sense of fulfillment and joy that I once thought unattainable.

Which brings us to our lively approach to dealing with hearing loss! When I first learned about hearing loss, all I cared about was being able to hear. But even after improving my hearing, I realized there was more to it. Then, after meeting another Black woman with hearing loss, I started seeing it differently through education, advocacy, resources, and tools.

As I gradually dealt with feeling bad and ashamed, it became easier to handle my problem as I learned more. When I began talking about my hearing loss, I felt less shame. The more I found helpful resources, the more willing I was to use them. The tools elevated my understanding of this condition. All of this slowly removed the sadness I had been carrying for years!
